This is one wedding venue in Charleston, SC that I could probably write for ages about, but when it really comes down to searching for your perfect place to get married, there are really only a handful of things to truly consider. The Middleton Place venue will win your heart for more reasons than one. Let’s dive into the top 3 reasons right now.
And after photographing weddings for the better part of my whole life, I’ve been to a lot of wedding venues over the years. Some of those venues are beautiful – absolutely – but there’s something truly magical about Middleton. Whether it be the panoramic vistas, the romantic & sculpted gardens, the charming architecture, or the European energy… everything about this place just has me swooning for more.
The Spanish Moss trees, the endless options for portrait backdrops in the gardens, and the 55-room Inn… all of it just makes me want to visit this venue over and over and over again.
And when I say historic, I don’t just mean something that was founded in the late 1800’s and cherished ever since then. I mean historic – like, founded in 1741 historic. And that’s when Henry Middleton himself decided to bring the garden design talents of Versailles to the design right here in SC.
No element within the grand garden landscape is overlooked. And every arbor, every pergola, every sculpture was chosen and manicured with complete, dedicated thought.
I don’t say that lightly, either. There are so many beautiful wedding venues in Charleston, but this is definitely high up on my “best of” list for a few reasons. Two of the top ones I mentioned above, but as an experienced Charleston wedding photographer, it really comes down to two main things for me.
First, how the wedding venue photographs. And when it comes to Middleton Place, the wide variety of backdrops, the gorgeous Spanish moss, and the sheer size of the property, I truly can’t think of anything more spectacular.
Secondly, the experience you get not only at the venue itself, but simply by having your wedding in Charleston – you’re truly going to have a weekend to remember. Charleston is such a beautiful town with history spread throughout it, and the number of quaint & charming restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, and bars are too many to count.
No matter when you choose to get married, put the Middleton Place wedding venue high up on your list to tour. I promise you that it will be worth every minute of your time.
