Hello Kindred Spirit! If you’re thinking about having a destination wedding, I think we’re going to be great friends! I am a hopeless romantic, wild for travel, and an avid adventure seeker. Maybe you’re some (or all!) of these things too. I’ve been a wedding photographer for over 10 years, specializing in film and a fine art approach for the past 9 years. Today, I can easily say that the only thing I love more than being a photographer, is being a photographer who gets to marry her passion for travel with photographing destination weddings as a vocation! I absolutely love being a destination wedding photographer.
I’ve had the opportunity to travel in more than 8 countries in the past 5 years alone, and I’ve always taken my cameras and film with me. This means that I have experience with many different cultures, customs, photo locations, and even regulations through out the world. I’m now here to pull from my experiences and share with you some destination wedding Q&A!

DESTINATION WEDDING FAQ’S + HOW IT WORKS
- WHAT IS A DESTINATION WEDDING?
Technically, a destination wedding is anywhere that takes you, your partner, and your guests more than 2 hours to get to. For example, if you live in Seattle and your partner is in Las Vegas, all your family and friends are from Miami, and your wedding is in Savannah, GA— It’s a destination wedding! I actually have a couple this year with that exact scenario.To simplify, it’s a destination wedding if you’re traveling more than a couple hours from Atlanta to Charleston, or if you’re going as far away as Hawaii, Santorini, Seville, Ibiza, or Tuscany. No matter where you choose, I want to be your destination wedding photographer.
I’m a regular (and light) traveller, experienced and reliable, and I will capture your destination wedding artistically and authentically!
- CAN’T I JUST HIRE A LOCAL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER WHERE I WANT TO GET MARRIED?
Yes, this is a great question! To be honest, you’ll have an easier time in some locations finding a fine art film destination photographer. In other locations, it may become a lot more difficult (or even seemingly impossible). Especially when you talk into account dealing with language barriers, customs, traditions, and level of customer and luxury service. Most importantly, take into account the level of quality.When you choose to have a destination wedding, its very tempting to hire the in-house resort photographer at the venue or hotel you’re staying at. But, I can’t stress this enough… compare the work and consistency of the resort photographer to that of a destination wedding photographer (such as myself). Now, compare the style of the photography and artistry. Take a close look at the color quality and timelessness. Then pay attention to the level of customer service and personal attention you may receive. And compare the level of trust you have in each of your photography options. Seriously, compare everything.

- DO YOU CHARGE TRAVEL FEES FOR DESTINATION WEDDINGS?
Yes, there are fees associated with destination weddings, but they’re very reasonable. Just get in contact with me about your wedding. If you include the location, date, and the other basics in my contact form, then I can show you what our options are. I’m very flexible and easy to work with, and I’m so ready to meet you somewhere exciting!
- WHAT ABOUT COMMUNICATION AND CONSULTATIONS?
This is a big deal. You’re planning an important event far from home, and possibly we’re far from each other too. Don’t worry! You can call me, text me, message me on Istagram, or even Pinterest (pretty much whatever works for you.. Whatsapp? I’m there).I am here to help in any way I can! Whether you’re getting married in the USA or at a destination far far away, I want to help.
- LOCATION SCOUTING— IS THIS PART OF WHAT YOU DO?
Absolutely! I (and my team) always arrive 24-48 hours in advance of the wedding day. This is specifically to scout locations, plan final logistics for the wedding day, and to rest up. This ensures we are at 100% for your wedding day, so it runs smoothly and efficiently. And that way I know I am getting you the most gorgeous destination wedding photographs you’ve ever seen. Yes, I am that confident in what I do.
