Atlanta boasts several excellent wedding venues within its city limits, offering everything from dramatic skyline backdrops to industrial chic spaces. Even with all these options, by far one of my favorite venues is the Foundry at Puritan Mill wedding venue. It’s located in the King Plow Arts District, which is a central part of Atlanta’s exciting and ever-evolving Westside. It’s easy to access from Downtown, Midtown, Atlantic Station, and even the East Side (Krog Street, EAV, Cabbage Town, etc).
Steely and Paul’s victorian-themed wedding was held at the end of our summer. This is when our days are longest and offer plenty of gorgeous light to stream in through the foundry at puritan mill’s skylights during the ceremony and reception. Steely is also a wedding planner with her own company, Steele Lotus Events. I know she and Paul really put a lot of time and creative energy to have their wedding be a true representation of themselves and their friends and family. I was so honored that she chose me to be their Atlanta wedding photographer. It was such a fun wedding day, full of special moments both with friends and family, and just the two of them.
It really was one-of-a-kind (even though thats not the only reason I’m featuring their wedding)! I really loved getting to work with the both of them. Everybody was so vibrant, excited to celebrate with them, and relaxed –its everything you would expect from such a cool couple and venue.
Steely got ready nearby at the Glen Hotel, which was full of light and clean backdrops for her and the girls to relax, pop champagne, and get ready together! Paul was in a nearby room getting ready with the guys. Paul and his friends are all in the music industry, with Paul being a DJ in the Atlanta duo, Mantis. Of course, you know they were goofing off and having a great time while waiting. When Steely and Paul finally got to have their first-look with each other, we stepped away to a private corner of the hotel with some beautiful window light.
We ran into a few hiccups on the way to get their portraits done at the rooftop of Ventana’s (their bridal party bus got in an accident!), but that didn’t stop Steely, Paul, and their friends from taking it all with a smile. Their portraits were smooth and an absolute blast on the rooftop, even on that hot, Atlanta summer day. Everybody was loving the breezes and view from the rooftop, and we eventually made it to the foundry at puritan mill with no problems and even a little extra time for some photos of the two of them with the high ceilings.
Everybody loves this unique style of wedding, and of course I do too. It was beautiful, well executed, personalized, playful, and most of all, super romantic. They even had cool details like boozy milkshakes and a desk full of desserts for their friends, family, and the kids! Perfect. While several Atlanta wedding venues have a similar sort of vibe, there really is something special about The Foundry at Puritan Mill (maybe its that they offer their own catering and beverage service, their awesome team day-of, or that the space was built in 1921).
Have a look through their wedding photographs below, and feel free to let me know any questions you may have about this wedding venue, or any other wedding venues in Atlanta. I am more than happy to help wherever I can!
