Travel is an essential part of life for me— without it I feel like I’m missing out on experiences. I love to discover fresh outlooks and find opportunities to share new stories. And that’s what my trip itinerary for 5 days in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico was. An exploration of lifestyle and landscape unique from my own home, even though we’re near each other.
It was an incredible experience! And I want to share my 5 day Puerto Vallarta travel itinerary with you, so you can experience it too. From incredible food and places to stay, to stunning hikes and paddle boarding with dolphins.
The first thing I’ll tell you about Puerto Vallarta is I noticed immediately how kind everyone is. All the time. There are tons of expats from the US and Canada there, and it seems that the communities have merged. What I mean is, no one seems to resent the tourism, but rather embrace it openly as a lifestyle of tranquility and accepted differences. The locals are all very helpful, and were super kind with me as I practiced my Spanish.
I traveled there with Jordan, a client turned friend. We stayed in a lovely private home suite adjacent to our Airbnb hosts, with a shared kitchen and laundry in the main building. It offers your own private balcony, reading room, bathroom, and bedroom. Absolutely perfect!
Before we get into the 5 day Puerto Vallarta travel itinerary, let’s take a look at the photos!
Doesn’t this trip look amazing?! It seriously was the perfect re-set, and incredibly affordable for a quick get away.

Day 2: Breakfast pastries at Yarita (HERE), followed by a walking tour of the city. Check out the romantic district (theres a famous “secret” churro man and traveling cart here, if you can find him!) and Old Vallarta. Check out Incanto Piano Bar for drinks and a show.
Day 3: Yoga on the private deck. Brunch or lunch at Gaby’s (seriously the best meal I had in PV) followed by a paddle boarding adventure with Felix at Vallarta Sup and Surf. Get drinks at Bar la Playa!
Day 4: Get coffee at Puerto Cafe:) Followed by a hiking day from Boca de Tomatlin to Playa las Animas. If you’re not exhausted after, try a tequila tasting with Alejandro at sunset! You can follow that by dinner at El Campenario (HERE).
Day 5: Relax, and get a final beach day in. Check out A Page in the Sun for coffee and books, and enjoy the local music, scenery, and water front. Pack up and get ready to head home in the evening, or leave in the morning on the 6th!
